Google acquires smart thermostat maker Nest

Google is now venturing into areas much beyond social media and other internet related business as it acquires smart thermostat maker Nest.

The $3.2 billion deal 'in cash' also brings along Tony Fadell, the father of Apple's iPod. Which means now Fadell will be a Google employee rather than Apple's.

It may be added that there have been reports that Google was currently testing Internet-connected thermostats, similar to products like the Nest, to help people easily monitor and adjust energy use.

Google also leaked screenshot showing a related app dubbed EnergySense, as seen below.

Now with the acquisition of Nest, Google will be able to move forward using experience and expertise of Nest.
