C|net's selection of top five tech products of 2012

The time before 2013 dawns is best utilized by the reviewers to see how 2012 fared and what tech things made headlines and which overtook the others in the competitive market during 2013.

C|net has come up with a list of top five and the best tech products of 2012 and to the surprise of many, specially the Apple users, Samsung's Galaxy S3  has shown an edge over the much touted iPhone 5 by Apple.

The criteria for selecting these five gadgets and products is based on their design, most compelling features and overall most impressive value among all other hundreds of devices and products the list of which these five products have been chosen.

--> The list in the descending order, top to bottom, is as under:
  1. Samsung Galaxy S3, the Android hero
  2. iPhone 5, the most anticipated
  3. Google Nexus 7, the superior small tablet
  4. iPad Mini, the luxury latecomer
  5. Motorola Droid Razr Maxx, the new battery benchmark
The reason why Samsung Galaxy S3 was preferred over Apple;s iPhone 5 is given by C|net as under:
"It took years of iPhone dominance and many months of Android market leadership for a phone with Google's mobile operating system to knock the iPhone off its pedestal. The Samsung Galaxy S3 won that honor. The GS3 is a truly global phone, available on nearly every carrier, nearly everywhere. Its large, vibrant HD display represents a growing class of phones with broader form factors, and its delicate balance of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, a sharp 8-megapixel camera, 4G LTE or HSPA+ support, and an accessible price make the Galaxy S3 a worldwide hero."
