Nokia Taking Over Sizeable Marketshare of Smartphones - Ships 5.6 Million Lumia in First Quarter

I was never really interested in Nokia and always looked away form it. But that was awhile ago.

Recently, I am amazed to find Nokia making inroads into the smartphone marketplace and seizing a sizable and meaningful market share of smartphone since it introduced its flagship Lumia.

Now it is reported that Nokia sold its Lumia line of smartphones with a record breaking shipment of 5.6 millions pieces just in the first quarter of 2013. This is huge number and shows a 25% increase in its shipment as compared to 4.4 million in last quarter of 2012.

The report that appeared Thursday also mentions that two third of those Lumia devices sold in Q1 2013 were running Windows Phone 8 (WP8).

Nokia also took a hit in the U.S. market by facing a 33 percent year on year decline as it’s heavily dominated by Apple and Samsung. With the upcoming Verizon Lumia 928 launch, Nokia might manage to get the needed boost they want to maintain footing in the region.

This really makes Nokia competitive and a threat to leading smartphones like iPhone, Galaxy and HTC. And I am seriously thinking of changing over to Nokia - Are you?
